Art Icon
My photography was exhibited for the first time at Bastille Design Centre in Paris, France, between November 13 -16, 2025. The exhibition was run by Art Icon and curated by Slavica Veselinovic and Danila Tkachenko; Graziano Arici served as director of the archive.
I was honoured to be included in exhibition, viewing my work in the flesh for the first time in such an airy yet intimate gallery breathing with history and charm. I never knew what to expect when I began my journey in photography two decades ago, and it continues to transform my life and perspective in the most profound and rewarding ways imaginable. I could only have dreamt my first time travelling to Paris I would see my photography in an exhibition, let alone in a such a beautiful gallery in the heart of the city just a short walk from Gare du Nord, where I had disembarked from the Eurostar; I travel by train a lot, and this had to be the most exciting one I've ever been on, with speeds approaching 300 kph. The exhibition coincided with Paris Photo, held at the Grand Palais, an architectural marvel.
The photography on display at Bastille Design Centre was exciting and provocative, featuring work from established and emerging artists alike. My artwork 'Embrace' was displayed on the wall to your left as you enter the gallery. It's a photograph of the Three Graces by Italian sculptor Antonio Canova 1757 - 1822, and was taken on 9/11/2023 at the Victoria and Albert museum in London. It is widely regarded as a masterpiece of neoclassical sculpture. Shot handheld without a tripod at 1/10 s, f/5, ISO 100 and mastered using modern editing techniques, the slowness of the shutter gave the soft marble sculpture an ethereal dream-like quality; a photographic sfumato that evokes the texture of living flesh. The delicate interplay of light and shadow creates a striking chiaroscuro, while the unique perspective lends the artwork a powerful sense of weight and dimensionality.
